Profile

Phil joined the team at The Management Centre in July 2010 to oversee the day-to-day running; the development of the product offering and to provide operational leadership to the Directors. He helped to launch the hugely successful Chartered Banker MBA TM (CBMBA) where he continues to act as Programme Director.

He became Managing Director in May 2011.

Phil's background includes over twenty years experience in the Financial Services Industry in Strategic, Retail and Business Banking roles for the Lloyds Banking Group. His roles included several senior positions in Wales and Shropshire. He achieved his Associateship for the Chartered Institute of Bankers (ACIB) in 1986 and then went on to complete an MBA with the Open University.

In 2006, Phil took over the role of Head of the Branch Network for a leading Mutual Building Society and was subsequently asked to lead their Sales & Marketing operation through the 2009/10 UK recession, which he did successfully.

Since 1988, Phil was actively involved in Leadership and Management training, in a series of roles that ran alongside his ‘day job’. This began as a self employed trainer for the World's largest training network (Dale Carnegie & Associates) and then involved setting up his own business to run Communication, Public speaking and Leadership training, both in the UK and internationally. Phil also wrote and delivered a pioneering confidence building programme for under-performing students. This ran extensively in Schools through-out the Midlands and made the front page of the national newspapers because of its success. Phil sits as a volunteer on the Board of a training business who hold charitable trust status, and is also a Non-Executive Director of a London Bank.
